Gastroenterologist

Dr. Jack Husney MD, Gastroenterology Board Eligible, graduated from St. Matthew’s University and completed residency at Maimonides Medical Center. A Fellow at Icahn School of Medicine, he has authored two publications on gastroenterology. Specializing in gastrointestinal endoscopy and liver diseases, Dr. Husney provides expert care and personalized treatment plans for improved quality of life.

Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD)
GERD is a chronic condition where the stomach acid flows back into the esophagus, causing symptoms like heartburn, chest pain, regurgitation, and difficulty swallowing. It occurs when the lower esophageal sphincter (LES) weakens or relaxes abnormally. Lifestyle changes, medications, and sometimes surgery may be recommended to manage GERD.
Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
IBS is a common gastrointestinal disorder characterized by abdominal pain or discomfort, bloating, and changes in bowel habits such as diarrhea, constipation, or both. The exact cause of IBS is unknown, but factors such as abnormal intestinal contractions, increased sensitivity to pain, and disturbances in the gut-brain axis may contribute to its development.
Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD)
IBD refers to a group of chronic inflammatory conditions that primarily affect the digestive tract. The two main types of IBD are Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. Crohn's disease can affect any part of the gastrointestinal tract, whereas ulcerative colitis primarily affects the colon and rectum.

  • Upper Endoscopy:
    Examination of the upper digestive tract using a flexible tube with a camera.
  • Flexible Sigmoidoscopy:
    Inspection of the lower part of the colon using a flexible tube with a camera.
  • Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS):
    Combines endoscopy and ultrasound to visualize the digestive tract and surrounding structures.
  • Esophageal Manometry:
    Measures muscle contractions in the esophagus to assess its function.
  • Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP):
    Diagnostic and therapeutic procedure for the bile and pancreatic ducts using an endoscope.
