What is Endometrial Ablation?
Endometrial ablation uses energy (thermal, microwave, radiofrequency, or freezing) to destroy the endometrial lining. It is performed under anesthesia in an outpatient or short-stay setting.
What to expect after Endometrial Ablation?
- Mild to moderate cramping
- Light spotting or bleeding for 1–2 days
- • Avoid intercourse, douching, and tampons for 48 hours
- • Possible discomfort similar to menstrual cramps
- • Normal activities can usually resume the same day
- • Use of a sanitary pad if needed
- • Over-the-counter pain relief can be used
- • Results typically available within a week
