What is an Endometrial Biopsy?

An endometrial biopsy uses a thin, flexible pipelle to collect tissue from the uterine lining for histologic examination. It is performed in the office without anesthesia.

What to expect after an Endometrial Biopsy?

  • Mild cramping or discomfort for a few hours
  • Spotting or light bleeding for 1–2 days
  • Avoid intercourse and tampons for 24 hours
  • Over‑the‑counter NSAIDs for cramping
  • Results available in 5–7 business days
